Uptown MN starts with an idea: Share the creativity of Minnesota with the world. Uptown MN sells gift, accessory and apparel merchandise for men, women and home that is created by local and regional artisans, designers and Minnesota businesses. Our name is taken from the Uptown urban district holding one of the world’s great art fairs annually in August.

Our first location opened March 2013 at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport and has now become a destination shopping experience for local, national and international travelers. Uptown MN products include jewelry, local apparel designers, home goods, accessories, proprietary men's and women's lines curating and highlighting the creativity of the contemporary North.

Our Retail team scours fashion magazines, runway trends, online blogs, and so much more to find what Trends will be hot in 2014. After reviewing a multitude of sources and Pantone’s predicted hot colors for 2014 – they have come up with the St. Croix Retail’s 2014 Spring/Summer Trend Wrap.

Color Forecast for Her: The top colors for ladies this year are a great mixture of vivid blues and purples as well as more subdued warm tones and neutrals. Mix and match our top colors from Pantone to ring in spring!

We wanted to formally welcome Eric Sitarz to the St. Croix team. Eric has a Business Degree from St. Thomas with an emphasis on Leadership and Management.

Eric joins our Retail team as our New Web Marketing Specialist. After only one week, Eric has worn many hats in his new position. Although he will officially focus on driving sales to the Local Brew and Uptown web stores, he has worked on product development, graphic design, video editing, social media, and anything else he is asked to try for us! Even though it is only his first week, he has been working hard on an awesome new idea for our MN Local Brew store – The Beer Box! Don’t worry; we will be sure to feature this in an upcoming post!

Some of Eric’s favorite things include:

  1. Making Music (play guitar, bass, drums)
  2. Good Beer (Surly Abrassive, Bell’s Hopslam)
  3. Good Music (Everything but Country)
  4. Graphic Design (good design in general)
  5. Exercising (at Farrell’s Extreme Body Shaping)
  6. Watching Hockey (Minnesota Wild)

THE COMFORT CLUB:

You can look cute and feel comfortable with this fall’s Comfort Club trend. Slouchy pants, oversized coats, and loosely fitted shirts are the key pieces to this trend. Stylish fabrics like Camo prints are all a simple sweater needs to be an eye catcher and keep you warm and cozy.

First worn in 1913 by members of the U.S. Navy to ensure that their chest hair did not show from their V-Neck Uniforms, the T-Shirt has certainly come a long way.

Now many of us cannot live without them! The T-Shirt has become a clothing staple, used for everything from work, to play, to designer fashion wear.

The T-Shirt is also a staple promotional product, as 43% of USA consumers own a promotional shirt and 87% of Americans have at least one T-Shirt they refuse to throw away because of a sentimental reason!

Nostalgia products are a great way for your logo to live on. Today, upcycling and reusing are very important to consumers, and what a great way to reuse old logoed material when you rebrand. Not only are nostalgia products a wonderful way to reuse products that are currently made, but it creates keepsakes for your brand.

Domino’s Pizza launched a program, “Second Hand Logos” that turns its old-logoed material into custom products.Old Pizza Boxes and Employee Uniforms were upcycled  into very trendy notebooks and scarves (examples of just a few of the very creative ideas).

QR or Quick Response codes, those square, garbled-looking images readable by smartphones, are being scanned in unprecedented numbers. About 120 QR codes were scanned every minute during the last quarter of 2012, according to research from ScanLife, a global provider of cloud solutions. The number of QR code scans has increased at a remarkable rate in the last three years – and will only continue to rise. As many as 53% of American adults own smartphones—and they’re scanning those codes to access anything from loyalty programs to contests.

When used properly, QR codes are a bridge between you and your audience, connecting the online world with the offline world. Remember QR Codes are meant to be a shortcut, so don’t over-complicate them.

Scan our QR Code to see our newly redesigned webpage!
